Kathmandu [Nepal], August 20 – Indian Army Chief General Dhiraj Seth returned to India on Wednesday after completing a four-day official visit to Nepal where he held talks with senior Nepali officials and received an honorary military rank.
Seth visited Nepal at the formal invitation of Nepal Army Chief General Ashok Raj Sigdel. He and his wife Komal Seth, were bid farewell at Tribhuvan International Airport by Lieutenant General Pradip Jung KC and his wife.
During the visit, President Ram Chandra Paudel conferred on Seth the honorary rank of General of the Nepali Army at a special ceremony. The honour was granted in line with the longstanding tradition between Nepal and India of conferring the honorary rank on each other’s army chiefs.
Seth also held separate courtesy meetings with President Paudel, Prime Minister and Defence Minister Balendra Shah, and General Sigdel.
Discussions during the meetings focused on bilateral military relations, cooperation and areas of mutual interest between the two-armed forces.
