KATHMANDU: The meeting of the Secretariat of the ruling Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) has been postponed. The meeting called for Saturday has been postponed until further notice.
Press Advisor to the Prime Minister Surya Thapa informed that the next meeting’s date has not been decided yet.
“The meeting has been postponed until further notice,” Thapa told KathmanduPati. “The date of the meeting will be decided soon after receiving the information.”
The meeting that had been convened to discuss the report submitted by the CPN task force was postponed with the consent of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and co-chairman of the party Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda.’
Chairman Prachanda’s press advisor Bishnu Sapkota Jugal informed that the meeting was postponed with both chairmen’s consent. He stated that the meeting was postponed due to the increasing risk of coronavirus transmission.
“The meeting was postponed with the consent of both the presidents due to Corona. The meeting has been adjourned until further notice,” said Sapkota.
Oli and Prachanda had formed a six-member task force under the coordination of General Secretary Bishnu Poudel to resolve disputes within the CPN. The task force had submitted its report to both the chairmen last Saturday.
Shankar Pokharel, Surendra Pandey, Bhim Rawal, Janardan Sharma, and Pampha Bhusal were members included in the task force.
The report is scheduled to be discussed by chairmen Oli and Prachanda, and then submitted to the secretariat meeting. A meeting of the CPN Secretariat on August 17 had approved the task force’s formation and clarified its mandate.
