The cabinet meeting held on Sunday decided to appoint Navaraj Dhakal as the Consul General of Lhasa and Udaya Rana Magar of Hong Kong and Macau. Lhasa and Hong Kong are special administrative zones in China, where Nepal has its consulate generals. Hong Kong’s Consulate General also oversees Macau. Previously serving as the Consul General of Hong Kong and Lhasa were Kamal Prasad Bhattarai and Gobinda Bahadur Karkee, respectively. Prior to their appointments, Magar was working as a Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs and Dhakal, also a Joint Secretary, was serving at the Ministry of Minister of Industry, Commerce and Supplies. However, both were transferred to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs last week in order to appoint them as the head of the Nepali missions abroad.
