Minister Karki, who is also the Spokesperson of the government, said it while receiving the report of the Working Journalists’ Minimum Wage Fixation Committee on media study report on working journalists, 2078. The Committee also presented the recommendation on review of minimum wage of working journalists, and media employees and workers. Receiving the reports, Minister Karki further assured that the reports and recommendation would be important documents and implemented gradually. However, the recommendations could be implemented in cooperative manner, he added. President of the Federation of Nepali Journalists, Bipul Pokhrel, said although the journalists and media employees deserve at least 50 percent increase in their salary in view of the market price hikes, the Committee has recommended the increase by 25 percent. He demanded the immediate formation of mass communication academy and implementation of Working Journalist Act.
