The US Department of State conferred the award on Shrestha for her contribution to the rights of non-binary people. PM Deuba took to Twitter and congratulated Bhumika Shrestha for receiving the prestigious International Courageous Women Award in recognition to her advocacy of the rights of LGBTQ+ community. It is the second time in row the Nepali got such award.
