He secured 5,941 votes to win the election against Sher Singh Mal ‘Diamond’ of CPN (Maoist Center) who finished the race with 5,805. The elections for the local level representatives were held on May 13. Mayoral candidate from the CPN (UML) Keshab Bohara got 2,606. Deputy-mayoral candidate from the CPN (Maoist Centre) Bimala Mahata obtained 5,885 to emerge victorious on the post while her nearest competitor from the Nepali Congress (NC) Kalawati Bohora got 4,593. In Parushuram municipality consisting of 12 wards, seven wards: 1,4,5,7,9,10 and 12 got the Maoist Centre’s leadership while remaining five wards: 2,3,6,8 and 11 elected the NC candidates as ward chairs.
