He won with 26,865 votes while the common candidate of ruling alliance Nrip Bahadur Oda of the Nepali Congress got received 14,817 votes. Likewise, Rana Bahadur Chand of CPN (UML) garnered 9,115 votes to come third, according to the Office of the Chief Returning Officer. Meanwhile, CPN (UML) candidate Kandakala Rana has been elected as the Deputy Mayor. She received 15,479 votes while the CPN (Maoist Center) candidate Shanti Adhikari received 12,670 votes. A total of 63,647 votes had been cast in the sub-metropolitan city elections, which has 93,151 eligible voters.
