UML’s Rana Bahadur Mahara has been elected for the post with 6,773 votes while his closest rival Chinta Mani Bhatta from the Nepali Congress got 6,264 votes. Similarly, NC’s Kalpana Joshi Panta has been elected for deputy mayor in the municipality. She secured 6,519 votes against 5,360 votes got by her nearest contender Madhav Panta from the CPN (Unified Socialist). Meanwhile, the NC is leading vote count in Bhimdatta and Punarbas municipalities.
