गृहपृष्ठ ∕ Politics ∕ UML wins local-lections at Budhiganga Politics UML wins local-lections at Budhiganga KathmanduPati July 10, 2022 KATHMANDU – The CPN (UML) has won the local level elections at Budhiganga municipality in Bajura. Ram Baniya has been elected the mayor and Maya Khadka (Kunwar) deputy-mayor in the voting held under the May 13 local elections. It may be noted that earlier, the Election Commission had decided to hold re-voting on July 7 at the municipality following disputes among political parties. Baniya secured 4,777 votes while Kunwar got 4,727 to win the election against their nearest competitors Ranga Bahadur Khati of Nepali Congress (3,774) and Rita Shahi of the NC (3,755) respectively, according to election officer Laxman Kathayat. The winning candidates had lost the previous 2017 elections to the NC and the NC fielded new faces on the key posts while the UML had decided to repeat the old candidates. The Budhiganga comprises 10 wards and of them, seven are won by the UML and remaining by the NC. As the district election officer Nawaraj Awasti, there were 13,659 voters for the local elections at the locality and the total voters’ turnout was 66.83 percent.
