He secured 36,799 to emerge victorious from Dolakha district. His close contender Balkrishna Shivakoti of CPN-UML received 36,482 votes, informed Chief Returning Officer Dilli Ratna Shrestha. Karki defeated Shivakoti with a margin of 317 votes.
