Organised by the left-democratic alliance, the election gathering is taking place at Kalika Municipality-4 in East Chitwan targeting the April 23 by-election, said Surya Aryal, secretary of the Nepali Congress, Chitwan. PM Dahal, and former PMs, Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, Chairperson of the CPN (Unified Socialist) Madhav Kumar Nepal and Chairperson of the Janata Samajwadi Dr Baburam Bhattarai are scheduled to address the rally, he said. Similarly, NC leaders including Bishwo Prakash Sharma and Dr Shekhar Koirala will also address the gathering, he added. PM Dahal will land in the venue for the rally through a helicopter and return directly to Kathmandu shortly after his address, said Chief District Officer Surendra Paudel. NC’s Jit Narayan Shrestha from the alliance is contesting from Chitwan constituency 2 in the by-election.
