The mayor made this call during the 15th executive meeting of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City today. Recalling that he in the period of one year sought the cooperation from 14 ministries for the operations of local affairs, he said he got no expected support and cooperation from the centre. He also drew the government’s (Ministry of Land Reform, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation) attention towards the ‘need’ to repeal the decision of the Council of Ministers to lease a public land protected by the metropolis at Hadigaun without the consent of the local government. “We requested the Home Ministry for assistance and cooperation in the management of unsystematic settlement and traffic management. Now idol theft cases are on the rise. We have already sought the surveillance of the federal government to prevent it. There is no pedestrian lane in the areas where the offices of diplomatic missions are located in. We had urged the Foreign Ministry to address the issue,” the mayor said. The mayor again drew the attention of the Ministry of Health and Population to implement the Supreme Court’s order to dismantle some structures falling with the Ministry jurisdictions.
