KATHMANDU – Laxmi Sunrise marked World Environment Day 2024 with a commitment to environmental sustainability through the launch of ‘Project 5K’. This ambitious initiative aimed to plant 5,000 trees nationwide, resonating with this year’s theme, “Our Land, Our Future. We are #GenerationRestoration.”
Spanning from June 1 to June 8, 2024, Project 5K exceeded expectations, with bank branches collaborating with local communities and organizations to plant approximately 6,000 trees. The diverse locations for tree planting included schools, community forests, conservation areas, hospitals, Armed Police Force and Army barracks, temples, and public spaces.
Through these activities, Laxmi Sunrise not only demonstrated its unwavering dedication to green and responsible values but also embodied its slogan “Orange Loves Green.” This initiative reflects the Bank’s ongoing commitment to fostering a sustainable and flourishing environment.
In addition to Project 5K, Laxmi Sunrise also disclosed its Avoided Emissions Report to mark the occasion. This report provides a detailed quantification of the environmental impact generated by its investments in renewable energy, specifically hydropower. Through strategic investments in this sector, the Bank avoided a total of 25,134.18 tons of CO2 equivalent (tCO2e) emissions, underscoring its commitment to sustainable finance and environmental responsibility. The Bank is a proud signatory of the Partnership for Carbon Accounting Financials (PCAF), further reinforcing its dedication to transparent and accountable environmental practices.
By championing green initiatives, Laxmi Sunrise is actively contributing to the larger goal of building a better future for generations to come. Project 5K is just one of the many actions taken by the Bank to uphold its values of being #Green and #Responsible. While Project 5K has concluded, our dedication to a greener Nepal continues. Together, through collective efforts, we can be #GenerationRestoration—one tree at a time.
