Four succumb to coronavirus in Rupandehi and Banke districts


KATHMANDU : Four people have died of the coronavirus in the Banke and Rupandehi districts.  A person who died in the Lumbini Provincial Hospital on Wednesday evening was confirmed to have the coronavirus infection after the swab today.

The 42-year-old man from Kotahimai Rural Municipality in Rupandehi died during his treatment at the Hospital.
Hospital’s Information Officer Dr Bishnu Gautam said in a press statement that the man’s RT PCR report was received today. He was suffering from respiratory related ailments.

Likewise, an 80-year-old man from the Butwal Sub-Metropolitan City died last night, the hospital said. He was admitted to the Hospital after testing positive for the virus on Monday. Dr Gautam said that the octogenarian died at 11:30 last night.

Two more people died in Bank district this morning in the course of treatment at the Nepalgunj Medical College Teaching Hospital in Kohalpur. According to a resource person at the District Health Office in Banke, Naresh Shrestha, a 42-year-old man of Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan City and 75-year-old woman of Surkhet also succumbed to the disease in the course of treatment.

With this, the number of coronavirus related deaths has reached 17 in Banke. Shrestha said that out of 112 coronavirus infected people with symptoms undergoing treatment at different isolation ward of hospitals of the district, the condition of 21 coronavirus infected people undergoing treatment at Bheri Hospital, Nepalgunj and Nepalgunj Medical College Teaching Hospital, Kohalpur, is serious.
