KATHMANDU – The CPN (Maoist Centre) has welcomed the formation of a high-level committee to investigate the visit visa scam.
Speaking during a session of the House of Representatives (HoR) today, the party’s deputy general secretary, Barshaman Pun, thanked the government for forming the committee in response to the party’s demand.
“Systemic issues should be gradually reformed to further strengthen democracy,” Pun said, expressing hope that the committee would conduct an impartial and thorough investigation to find a long-term solution to the problems in the visit visa system.
He also added that the party expects the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) to play an effective role in addressing the matter.
During the session, Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak informed the HoR that a high-level study and parliamentary committee has been formed under the chair of former Chief Secretary Shankar Das Bairagi. The committee includes joint secretaries from six ministries.
They are They are Tirtharaj Chilwal ( Finance), Aruna Joshi ( Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs), Ramkrishna Lamichhane ( Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation), Mani Ratna Koirala ( Foreign Affairs), Pradip Koirala ( Labour, Employment and Social Security) and Ananda Kafle ( Home).
