According to Spokesperson at the District Police Office, Yogendra Khatiwada, the deceased have been identified as nine-year-old Yunish Khatri of Itahari sub-metropolis-16 and 11-year-old Hem Bahadur (Bishu) Pariyar of Itahari-5. A team led by Police Inspector Lekh Nath Dahal from Area Police Office, Pakali, had reached the incident site soon after getting the information about the incident. The team rescued both boys from the rivulet and took them to Sanvi City Hospital, Itahari, for treatment where the doctors declared them dead. The bodies have been kept at BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences for post mortem.
