No menace but dialogue with taxpayers to increase revenue: Finance Minister Wagle

BIRGUNJ – Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle has directed the employees at Birgunj Customs to meet the revenue target.

Although there is a pressure to collect tax, dialogue is vital to convince the industrialists and entrepreneurs to generate adequate revenue, he added.

“Not intimidation and raid but dialogue with industrialists is imperative to collect revenue,” he reminded the employees during his inspection at Birgunj Customs Office today. The Finance Minister, however, said he had heard of practicing bribery at government offices for works, so such trend must end.

Wagle further vowed adoption of reward and punishment scheme by this government. “Integrity policy must be abided by the employees from the very basic level. The market monitoring should not be misused,” he made aware. “If the industrialists are menaced to collect revenue, it would not be sustainable. So, an atmosphere conducive is needed,” Finance Minister Wagle reiterated. He shared that present government had a broader aim, so it wants cooperation from employees and industrialists as well.

On the occasion, the Minister warned of stringent action to those involved in irregularities. “Those involved in corruption won’t be spared. It is not the time like that of past. New way of performance and service delivery is essential,” he underlined.
