Rojina Tamrakar appointed Executive Director Institute of Foreign Affairs Studies

KATHMANDU – The Nepal government on Wednesday appointed Rojina Tamrakar as the Executive Director (ED) of the Institute of Foreign Affairs (IFA), a government think tank focused on foreign policy and diplomacy.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs took the decision after Ambassador Prakash Kumar Subedi completed his term as Executive Director.

“Concluded my tenure at IFA Nepal after 25 months. It opened a window for me to the world of intelligentsia & academia. Learned a lot, made many friends. Grateful to all, especially the young academics and young officers of Foreign Ministry of Nepal, I frequently engaged with,” Subedi wrote on X.

Tamrakar, who joined the Foreign Ministry as a section officer in 2069 BS, has previously served as Acting Ambassador to Canada and Oman.

Established in 1993 and restructured in 2012, the Institute of Foreign Affairs is a semi-autonomous institution based in Kathmandu, working in the fields of foreign policy, diplomacy and international relations.

IFA conducts studies on Nepal’s foreign relations, international affairs, diplomatic practices, consular issues and emerging global developments. It also provides policy advice, concept papers and recommendations to support Nepal’s short-term and long-term foreign policy priorities through research and analysis.
