गृहपृष्ठ ∕ Business ∕ Bird Flu Confirmed in Bhaktapur Poultry Farms Business Bird Flu Confirmed in Bhaktapur Poultry Farms KathmanduPati June 25, 2026 Bhaktapur– Authorities have culled thousands of chickens in Bhaktapur district following the confirmation of bird flu outbreaks in poultry farms located in Changunarayan and Suryabinayak municipalities. According to Dr. Amik Shrestha, a livestock veterinarian at the Livestock Service Office, a total of 38,795 chickens have been destroyed in wards 2, 8 and 9 of Changunarayan Municipality after the disease was detected. Similarly, 9,378 chickens were culled in wards 1, 4 and 8 of Suryabinayak Municipality as part of containment measures. Dr. Shrestha said the culling was carried out following laboratory confirmation of bird flu infections in poultry farms across the affected areas of Bhaktapur district. Authorities have intensified surveillance and biosecurity measures to prevent the further spread of the disease.
