UML Vice-Chair Bishnu Paudel’s custody extended by six days

A special court on Thursday extended the custody of UML Vice-Chair and former minister Bishnu Paudel by six days as part of an investigation into a money laundering case.

A bench of judges Hemant Rawal, Dilliratna Shrestha and Umesh Koirala granted investigators permission to keep Paudel in custody for an additional six days.

Paudel was arrested in Surkhet on June 22 during the investigation into the alleged money laundering case. This is the third time the court has extended his remand.

Meanwhile, Paudel’s habeas corpus petition is being heard by a joint bench of Supreme Court Justices Binod Sharma and Nityananda Pandey.

His wife, Domaya Paudel filed the habeas corpus petition on June 24 (Asar 10), arguing that he was being held in unlawful detention.
