Kathmandu [Nepal], July 20 – Nepal Prime Minister Balendra Shah is set to hold a high-level meeting with key representatives from the country’s capital market, securities and insurance sectors on Monday as the government seeks to discuss reforms and strengthen financial market institutions.
The meeting is scheduled for 12:00 pm at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers in Singha Durbar, Kathmandu.
Senior officials and industry leaders expected to attend include Nepal Securities Board (SEBON) Chairman Gopal Bhatt, Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) Chairman Amrit Lamsal, Stock Broker Association of Nepal President Sagar Dhakal and Sandip Jalan of Nasa Securities.
Former NEPSE Chief Executive Officer Sitaram Thapaliya, Nepal Life Insurance Chief Executive Officer Navaraj Silwal and Maheshwar Lal Shrestha, Chief Executive Officer of Nagarik Stock Dealer Company Limited, are also scheduled to participate. Priya Raj Regmi and Ambika Prasad Paudel are among the other attendees invited to the discussions.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office the meeting will focus on the current state of Nepal’s capital market measures to strengthen the securities and insurance sectors and policy reforms aimed at improving the country’s financial system.
Participants are also expected to exchange views on broader economic issues affecting Nepal and discuss ways to enhance investor confidence, improve market governance and support sustainable economic growth.
The consultation comes as the government continues efforts to strengthen financial institutions and promote capital market development as part of its wider economic reform agenda. The outcome of the discussions is expected to help shape future policy measures affecting Nepal’s securities market, insurance industry and the broader financial sector.
