Kathmandu [Nepal], July 23 – Nepal Prime Minister Balendra Shah is scheduled to meet leaders of the country’s organic agriculture sector on Thursday as part of the government’s ongoing consultations with industry stakeholders to promote business growth and address sector-specific concerns.
The meeting to take place at 11:30 am at the office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers.
According to the Prime Minister’s Secretariat, the discussion will bring together senior representatives of the Nepal Organic Association and leading entrepreneurs involved in organic farming, processing and agribusiness. Participants include Nepal Organic Association President Deepak Baskota, Vice President Prem Lama, Gorkha Tea Estate Chairman Uday Chapagain, Himalayan Shangrila Tea Factory Chairman Kamal Mainali and Annapurna Organic Agro Industry Chairman Parshuram Acharya.
The Nepal Organic Association works to promote the production, processing, trade and consumption of organic agricultural products across the country. The meeting is expected to focus on opportunities to strengthen Nepal’s organic agriculture industry improve the business environment and discuss challenges facing producers and processors.
The Prime Minister’s Secretariat said Shah has been holding regular consultations with business leaders from different sectors as part of the government’s broader effort to encourage investment, support private enterprise and address legitimate concerns raised by entrepreneurs.
Although the agenda of Thursday’s meeting has not been made public the consultation reflects the government’s continued engagement with the private sector as Nepal seeks to expand value-added agricultural production and strengthen the competitiveness of its organic products in domestic and international markets.
