Kathmandu [Nepal], July 25 – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will meet US President Donald Trump at the White House on Tuesday the Israeli Prime Minister’s office announced as tensions persist between the two leaders over the handling of the conflict with Iran.
The meeting comes at a time when reports have pointed to growing differences between Washington and Jerusalem over efforts to manage the aftermath of the war with Iran and ongoing diplomatic negotiations. Despite their long-standing political partnership recent months have seen signs of strain as Trump has reportedly increased pressure on Netanyahu during complex talks related to Iran.
According to Netanyahu’s office, the Israeli leader will depart for Washington on Monday ahead of the White House meeting. During his visit, he is also scheduled to attend the funeral of the late US Senator Lindsey Graham.
The upcoming meeting will mark the sixth face-to-face engagement between Netanyahu and Trump since Trump was re-elected as US president last year, underscoring the continued importance of the US-Israel relationship despite recent policy differences.
Netanyahu has frequently described Trump as Israel’s “greatest friend” in the White House highlighting the close ties the two leaders have maintained over the years. However, disagreements over Iran have fuelled speculation about friction within the alliance particularly as Washington pursues sensitive negotiations while seeking to prevent further escalation in the region.
The White House meeting is expected to provide an opportunity for both leaders to discuss regional security the situation involving Iran and broader US-Israel cooperation as international attention remains focused on developments in the Middle East.
