Kathmandu [Nepal], August 4 – Nepal’s stock market extended its losing streak on Tuesday with the benchmark NEPSE index falling 21 points to close at 2,663 as broad-based selling weighed on investor sentiment.
Daily turnover also declined to Rs 4.07 billion from Rs 4.57 billion recorded in the previous session indicating weaker trading activity.
By transaction value Khanikhola Hydropower, Siddhartha Bank, National Hydropower, Central Finance and Ridi Power were among the day’s most actively traded companies.
Market breadth remained firmly negative with share prices of 214 companies declining while only 58 advanced and five remained unchanged.
Everest Color posted the day’s biggest gain rising 15 percent. In contrast, Saptakoshi Development Bank suffered the steepest loss with its share price dropping 11 percent.
All sectoral indices closed lower. Manufacturing, processing, trading and others recorded declines of more than one percent while banking, hydropower, hotels, tourism, finance, development banks, insurance, investment and microfinance sectors also ended the session in negative territory.
