Muscat [Oman], August 6 – Nepal stepped up efforts to expand trade, attract foreign investment and strengthen business ties with Oman by hosting a business networking event in Muscat that brought together government officials, exporters and private sector representatives from both countries.
The Embassy of Nepal in Muscat organised the “Business Interaction and Networking” programme at Nepal house to promote Nepal’s export potential, investment opportunities, tourism and employment while fostering connections between Nepali and Omani businesses.
Addressing the event, Chargé d’Affaires Bishesh Kumar Sah said Nepal considers Oman an important partner for enhancing trade and investment cooperation. He welcomed the first high-level trade delegation from Nepal to visit Oman and outlined investment opportunities, institutional support mechanisms and the procedures for foreign investors seeking to do business in Nepal.
Sah also paid tribute to Nadhira Al Harthy, the first Omani woman to summit Mount Everest and other climbers who died in a recent mountain avalanche.
Federation of Entrepreneurship Nepal (FEEN) president Govind Ghimire highlighted Nepal’s export potential presenting products with comparative advantages and explaining the organisation’s efforts to promote the country’s export-driven economy.
Federation of Handicraft Associations of Nepal President Rabindra Shakya showcased Nepal’s traditional handicrafts and identified products with strong commercial potential in Oman and other Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) markets.
Nepali products were displayed during the event where Omani business representatives expressed interest in exploring future commercial partnerships with the visiting trade delegation.
The delegation arrived in Muscat on August 3 and participated in a business-to-business interaction with Lulu Hypermarket on August 4. More than 70 participants including business executives, retailers, media representatives and Nepali entrepreneurs, attended the programme according to the Nepali Embassy in Muscat.
