Kathmandu [Nepal], August 10 – Nepal Prime Minister Balendra Shah held talks with Indian Ambassador to Nepal Naveen Srivastava on Monday reaffirming both countries’ commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation.
The courtesy meeting took place at the office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers in Singha Durbar.
According to officials, the two sides discussed a range of issues related to Nepal-India relations including longstanding friendship, mutual interests, development partnership and broader areas of bilateral cooperation.
During the meeting, Ambassador Srivastava congratulated Prime Minister Shah and expressed India’s commitment to further deepening the close ties and collaboration between the two neighbouring countries.
Prime Minister Shah, in turn underscored the importance of building on the historic relationship between Nepal and India while working together in areas of shared interest for mutual benefit.
The meeting comes as Nepal continues diplomatic engagement with its two immediate neighbours India and China, both of which are key political, economic and development partners.
Prime Minister Shah is also scheduled to meet Chinese Ambassador Chen Song later today. Officials have not disclosed the agenda for that meeting, but it is expected to focus on bilateral relations and cooperation.
No formal agreements or joint statements were announced immediately following the meeting with the Indian envoy.
