Kathmandu [Nepal], August 15 – Nepal Prime Minister Balendra Shah has extended greetings to his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi, the Indian people and government on India’s 80th Independence Day.
In a message shared through social media, Shah congratulated Modi and expressed his best wishes to the people and government of India on the occasion.
He said Nepal and India share deep historical ties close people-to-people relations and longstanding bilateral cooperation expressing confidence that these ties would grow stronger in the coming years.
“On the occasion of India’s 80th Independence Day, I extend my heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the friendly people of India and the government,” Shah said in his message.
He also wished for the relationship between the two neighbouring countries to become even stronger in the days ahead.
“May the deep historical relationship close people-to-people ties and cooperation between Nepal and India grow stronger in the coming days,” he said.
Shah’s message comes as Nepal and India continue to maintain extensive ties in areas including trade, connectivity, development cooperation, culture and people-to-people relations.
The two countries share an open border and longstanding social and economic links, making bilateral relations significant for both sides.
India is celebrating its 80th Independence Day on Saturday, marking the anniversary of its independence from British rule.
Shah’s message highlights Nepal’s emphasis on maintaining close and friendly relations with its southern neighbour while strengthening bilateral cooperation in the years ahead.
