Cabinet approves 10 decisions, raises school staff pay


Kathmandu [Nepal], August 20 – The Cabinet has taken 10 decisions including increasing monthly pay grants for early childhood development facilitators, school employees and school support staff by Rs 5,000.

Under the decision, the federal government’s existing salary grants for the three categories of school workers will be increased by Rs 5,000 per month. The Cabinet also decided to set the salaries of teachers working under teaching support grants in grades 9-10 and grades 6-8 at the starting salaries of third-grade secondary and lower-secondary teachers respectively.

The government also approved a grant of about Rs 2.73 billion from Japan for an air traffic control improvement project at Tribhuvan International airport.

Other decisions include approving the establishment of a sub-centre of the Asian Disaster Preparedness Centre in Nepal and approving a bilateral air services agreement between Nepal and Saudi Arabia.

The Cabinet authorized a Nepali delegation led by a Home Ministry joint secretary to attend the 14th Joint Working Group meeting on Border Management in India on September 4-5.

It also approved a delegation led by the Foreign Minister to attend the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York.

The Cabinet approved bills to amend the Payment and Settlement Act, 2018 and the Citizen Investment Trust Act, 1991 for submission to the Federal Parliament.

It also promoted Joint Secretary Kamal Prasad Bhattarai to the gazetted special class and appointed him chief secretary of Bagmati Province.
