Nepal, UAE move to strengthen labour cooperation

Kathmandu [Nepal], August 24 – United Arab Emirates Ambassador to Nepal Abdulla Saeed Mubarak Jarwan Al Shamsi paid a courtesy call on Minister for Youth, Labour and Employment Ramji Yadav on Monday.

During the meeting at the ministry in Singha Durbar the two sides agreed to organise a meeting of the joint operations group to ensure the effective implementation of bilateral labour related memoranda of understanding and agreements between Nepal and the UAE.

Minister Yadav stressed the need to simplify the dual process for police clearance certificates required by Nepali workers.

He said streamlining the process would help reduce administrative difficulties faced by Nepali workers seeking employment in the UAE.

According to Minister Yadav’s Secretariat, Ambassador Al Shamsi said the UAE has been continuously holding discussions and coordinating with Nepal on issues concerning the welfare and rights of Nepali workers.

The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral labour cooperation and ensuring the effective implementation of existing agreements between the two countries.
