BANKE : A total of 359 new industries have been registered in the Banke district in a month after the Lumbini Provincial Government decided to provide exemption for registration fees.
The decision was aimed at cushioning the impact of COVID-19 on small and cottage industries in the Province. With the implementation of the Provincial Government’s decision to exempt registration fees for the new industries since September 8, new industries are already sprouting in the Banke district, said Jayaram Tharu, Chief of Office of Small and Cottage Industry in Banke.
The small and cottage industries with a fixed capital of upto Rs 500,000 capital are to be registered at the local level while those industries with fixed capital above Rs 500,000 are to be registered at the Office of Small and Cottage Industry in each district, according to Tharu.
Earlier, the registration charge for industries with a fixed capital of upto Rs 20,00,000 was Rs 5,000 while industries with capital above Rs 20,00,000 to Rs 50,00,000 had to pay Rs 15,000 for registration.
Likewise, industries with a capital of above Rs 50,00,000 have to pay Rs 25,000 for registration. The waiver in the fee has enthused aspiring entrepreneurs. They have also availed counselling from the Office of Small and Cottage Industry in Banke for free of cost.
