At a recent field visit, a Nepali Congress team, led by Jiwan Bahadur Shahi, said that it found the constructions China has made around pillar number 12 in Lolungjung along the Nepal-China border in Humla to be situated in Nepal. The Shahi-led team also concluded that China has encroached Nepali lands in Hilsa. “China has also fenced off Das Gaja area in Hilsa,” read the statement. “There is no encroachment of lands around 11 and 10 number pillars,” the statement added. However, China refutes any claim of encroachment of Nepali land. Issuing a statement last month amidst news reports alleging China of encroaching Nepali land, the Chinese embassy in Kathmandu had said that China and Nepal have no territorial disputes. Stating that the buildings mentioned by the media have been verified to be on the Chinese side of the China-Nepal border, the embassy also said that the Nepali side may seek verification again. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nepal has already denied a border dispute with China as well as encroachment by the northern neighbor.
