UEFA Champions League to Show Solidarity with Flood-Hit Nepal

Kathmandu [Nepal], September 8 – The UEFA Champions League will show solidarity with people affected by the devastating floods that struck Nepal on Bhadra 10 with all matches this week set to begin with a minute of silence.

According to UEFA stadiums will also display banners carrying the message, “Nepal, you are not alone,” as a gesture of support for flood-affected Nepalis.

UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin expressed sadness over the disaster and said the European football family would stand together with the people of Nepal.

“Before this week’s matches, the entire European football family will unite to express its deepest condolences and support for Nepal,” Čeferin said.

He expressed hope that Nepali people would find strength and resilience as they recover from the tragedy.

The UEFA initiative aims to demonstrate solidarity from the international football community with Nepal at a time when the country is dealing with the aftermath of the devastating floods.
