Kathmandu [Nepal], September 13 – BRICS countries have pledged to strengthen international cooperation to make artificial intelligence safe, reliable, inclusive and accessible to all according to the New Delhi Declaration issued at the group’s summit in India.
The declaration described AI as an important opportunity for economic and sustainable development while calling for its responsible use and greater international cooperation. It also outlined common positions on global peace and security, climate change, economic issues and reform of international institutions.
BRICS members reiterated their support for a multipolar world order and a greater role for developing countries in global decision-making. They called for reforms to the International Monetary Fund, World Bank and World Trade Organization to increase developing and emerging economies’ representation and influence.
The group expressed concern over unilateral tariffs, protectionist policies and unilateral economic sanctions, warning of their potential impact on global trade and supply chains.
On global conflicts BRICS called for a ceasefire in Gaza, uninterrupted humanitarian aid and a two-state solution to the Israel-Palestine conflict. It also urged an end to the fighting in Sudan and supported Syria’s sovereignty.
The declaration condemned terrorism in all forms and called for joint action against terrorism financing, cybercrime, human trafficking and organised online fraud.
BRICS also pledged stronger disaster preparedness and climate-resilient infrastructure, including improved early-warning systems and greater public-private investment.
