Kathmandu [Nepal], Sept 14 – Nepal Prime Minister Balendra Shah on Monday held consultations with elected representatives from districts and local levels affected by the Bhote Koshi flood in Rasuwa and other disaster-hit areas.
The meeting began at 11 am at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers in Singha Durbar, bringing together Members of Parliament and representatives from 15 affected local units across Nuwakot, Rasuwa, Dhading, Gorkha and Tanahun.
The discussions are focused on assessing the post-flood situation, reviewing the current condition of affected communities and identifying immediate relief and response measures.
The meeting will also discuss longer-term rehabilitation and recovery plans for areas declared disaster crisis zones following the floods.
From Nuwakot, MPs Bikram Timilsina and Achyutam Lamichhane are attending the meeting, along with representatives from Bidur, Belkotgadhi, Kispang and Tarakeshwar local levels.
Rasuwa is represented by the chiefs of Uttargaya, Kalika and Amachodingmo rural municipalities. Gosaikunda Rural Municipality Chairperson Kaisang Nurpu Tamang is participating virtually.
Representatives from Dhading include the chiefs of Galchi, Siddhalek, Gajuri and Benighat Rorang rural municipalities.
Tanahun’s Devghat and Anbukhaireni rural municipalities as well as Gandaki Rural Municipality of Gorkha, are also represented at the consultation.
The meeting comes as authorities continue to assess the impact of the floods and mudslides in the affected districts, with communities facing challenges related to damaged infrastructure, disrupted connectivity, displacement and loss of livelihoods.
The government is expected to use the consultation to coordinate with local governments on both immediate response and reconstruction priorities.
