गृहपृष्ठ ∕ Breaking ∕ Nepal Home Minister Gurung to visit India for BIMSTEC meeting Breaking Nepal Home Minister Gurung to visit India for BIMSTEC meeting KathmanduPati October 05, 2026 Kathmandu [Nepal], October 5: Nepal’s Home Minister Sudan Gurung will travel to India next week on his first foreign visit since taking office to attend the first BIMSTEC Home Ministers’ Meeting in New Delhi. Officials at Nepal’s Ministry of Home Affairs told Kathmandupati that Gurung will leave for New Delhi on October 12 and attend the meeting on October 13. The meeting will bring together home ministers from the seven BIMSTEC member states Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Thailand. It will be the first meeting of BIMSTEC home ministers since the regional grouping was established in 1997. The inaugural meeting is being held in New Delhi. Gurung is also expected to hold bilateral meetings with his counterparts on the sidelines of the meeting including Indian Home Minister Amit Shah, according to Nepali officials. The meeting comes as BIMSTEC members seek to strengthen cooperation on security issues and follow up on discussions among senior security and home officials from the member states.
