Kathmandu [Nepal], October 7 – The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) has invited proposals from partner organisations willing to build temporary housing for families affected by the Bhotekoshi flood.
In a notice issued on Wednesday the authority called on organisations to construct temporary shelters in Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading districts in line with standards approved by the Department of Urban Development and Building Construction.
The proposals must specify the number of temporary houses the organisations plan to build along with the locations and names of the concerned local governments.
Organisations must also submit an action plan outlining the expected start date and deadline for completing the construction, the NDRRMA said.
They have also been asked to provide details of any previous agreements reached for constructing temporary housing in the flood-affected areas.
NDRRMA spokesperson Shanti Mahat said selected organisations will have to coordinate with the Department of Urban Development and Building Construction and the respective local governments while carrying out the work.
“The willing organisations should submit their proposals to the NDRRMA within a week,” Mahat said.
The initiative comes as authorities continue rehabilitation efforts for families displaced by the Bhotekoshi flood.
