गृहपृष्ठ ∕ Breaking ∕ India, Nepal discuss ties ahead of PM Shah’s visit Breaking India, Nepal discuss ties ahead of PM Shah’s visit KathmanduPati October 09, 2026 Kathmandu [Nepal], October 9 – India’s Ministry of External Affairs Additional Secretary Munu Mahawar met Nepal’s Foreign Secretary Amrit Bahadur Rai in Kathmandu on Friday to discuss matters of mutual interest and ways to strengthen bilateral ties. According to Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the two officials exchanged views on issues of mutual interest and discussed ways to further deepen the longstanding and multifaceted relationship between the two countries. The meeting comes ahead of Prime Minister Balendra Shah’s expected visit to India in November. Both sides are preparing for the visit, with reconstruction and hydropower cooperation among the possible areas of discussion and potential agreements. The engagement also comes after the August 26 floods and landslides caused extensive damage in Nepal including to infrastructure and hydropower projects. India has provided relief assistance to Nepal following the disaster including supplies and support for response operations.
