As Taplejung is a high cardamom-yielding district in comparison to other adjoining districts, the establishment of a processing centre at the local level will benefit the entire district, he claimed. Minister Bhattarai who is on a visit to different rural municipalities in his home district Taplejung pledged that the federal government will pay special attention for the setup of the centre since processed cardamom has a good scope for both marketing and employment generation. Cardamom farming has been done in all other areas apart from Olangchungola but the farmers have been hit hard for not getting appropriate prices. Minister Bhattarai also pledged to complete the blacktopping of roads linking all local levels of the district for convenient transport in rural areas within two years. In lack of accessible road connectivity, marketization of local productions has faced a hiccup in the district which is directly associated to the lives and livelihoods of the local people.
