Minister hints at planned steps for tourism promotion


KATHMANDU – Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Yogesh Kumar Bhattarai has said that a master plan for tourism promotion in the eastern hilly district of Nepal, including Taplejung, will be unveiled soon.

Arguing that tourism activities are currently lagging despite having a lot of potential, Minister Bhattarai stated that plans for tourism development in the region will be forwarded.

Marking the inauguration of the Tourism and Mountaineering course at the Bhanujan Secondary School this morning, the Minister shared that the government will focus especially on Mt. Kanchanjangha, Pathibhara Temple, Phungphunge falls, Timbung Pokhari and other various tourist sites.

The beginning of the course is expected to contribute to positively developing the tourism sector. Minister Bhattarai added that he hopes the course will help promote tourism-friendly behaviours and other practices in addition to creating jobs as well.

On the occasion, he called for publicity, sufficient tourism infrastructure and tourism-friendly conducts as well as concerted efforts for the best use of available resources.
