KATHMANDU – Nepali Congress, the main opposition party, has urged its cadres to join the nation-wide demonstration it plans to stage in all 77 districts on Monday.
The meeting of the party office bearers held on Thursday decided to instruct leaders and cadres of all 77 districts to participate in the mass demonstration going to be held on Monday in protest to recent police manhandling of its senior leader Ram Chandra Paudel in Tanahu.
Accusing the government of becoming intolerant to the opposition, promoting corruption and imposing authoritarianism, Nepali Congress is holding a nation-wide protest on Monday.
Biswo Prakash Sharma, the spokesperson of Nepali Congress, said that the party has urged the cadres to join the demonstration also to protest the recent killing of a teacher by Communist Party of Nepal led by Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplab’. The meeting also decided to request the Biplab-led party to shun the violence and pursue the path of peaceful politics.
“The meeting has decided to make appeal to the mass to participate in demonstrations going to be held in all 77 districts on December 14. Similarly, the meeting also decided to condemn the recent killing of a teacher in Morang and demand the government to take strong action against the perpetrator,” he said.
