Giving a message on the occasion of Martyrs Day today, former prime minister Deuba wished the Martyrs Day inspired all sectors to work for ensuring peace and prosperity in the country by discharging national responsibilities. Freedom is integral to democratic system, he reminded, adding that it helps end existing anomalies and pave way for accelerated development. According to him, the martyrs sacrificed their lives for peaceful and prosperous nation with utmost exercise of democracy. Many Nepalis got martyrdom in course of the democratic movements waged over times since 1997 BS to 2062/63BS for the establishment and restoration of democracy. The Martyrs Day is observed to commemorate their sacrifice and contribution made to the country.
