SINDHULI: Five local levels, out of nine, in Sindhuli have announced lockdown against coronavirus. The Kamalamai municipality and the Tinpatan , Marin , Sunkoshi and Golanjar rural municipalities have gone into lockdown owing to the growing risk of COVID-19 in the district and its detection in the community.
They have ceased the delivery of all kinds of services except the most essential ones. They announced this through a public notice, urging the people not to ignore the measures taken against the virus.
The Kamalamai municipality has been observing lockdown since Monday night while Sunkoshi and Golanjar since Thursday and Tinapatan and Marin since Friday. Locals are urged to stay at home safely to avoid all kinds of unessential movements. They have also been asked to take all safety measures for essential movements.
The local government requires the operation of only most essential services by taking advised safety measures including the practice of social/physical distancing. The infection risk has further increased in the district with the detection of 13 positive cases on Friday alone.
It is complained that in Kamalamai which had decided to go into lockdown before other local levels, people’s movement in public spaces goes on due to lack of effective implementation of the restrictive measures. Some shops which are not related to most essential services are being operated covertly. People are seen gathering in public areas for casual chats.
Meanwhile, the Sindhuli Hospital has stated that the virus infected persons have to stay in home isolation for lack of isolation beds in the hospital. Hospital management and development committee chair Prahlad Pokhrel urged the people to fully abide by the lockdown rules to reduce the virus load and take all prescribed measures while being in home isolation.
