Issuing a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) said that Foreign Minister Gyawali and State Councilor and Minister of Foreign Affairs of China discussed matters of mutual interests during the telephonic conversation held on Friday evening. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang announced that China will provide 500,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine to Nepal on a grant basis and stated that China would accord priority to Nepal in vaccine cooperation, according to the statement. Nepal’s Foreign Minister Gyawali thanked the Chinese Government for the support of COVID-19 vaccine and appreciated China’s stance to make it global public goods, read the statement. The commitment of a half million doses of Covid vaccines to Nepal from the Chinese Foreign Minister is higher than 300,000 doses that Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu had announced recently.
