The Prachanda-Nepal faction called the standing committee meeting for today after the Supreme Court scrapped the decision of the Election Commission to give the name NCP to the party formed after a merger between CPN (UML) and CPN (Maoist-Center). Both Prachanda and Nepal have expressed dissatisfaction over the Supreme Court’s verdict. NCP Spokesperson Narayan Kaji Shrestha said that the standing committee meeting has been called at 11 am today to discuss the latest political developments and scenarios resulting from the verdict by the Supreme Court on Sunday. Talking to journalists immediately after the Supreme Court’s ruling yesterday, NCP Chairman Prachanda had termed the verdict ‘unexpected’. Stating that the Supreme Court’s verdict was of a political nature, he had said that the standing committee meeting would take necessary decisions.
