The accident took place when a passenger bus (Na 4 Kha. 5149) heading towards Kathmandu from Kakarvitta of Jhapa collided with a truck (Na. 6 Kha. 89) coming from the opposite direction at Sunachuri in Manahri rural municipality-6. The deceased have been identified as Madan Kumar Thapa Chettri,35, of Birgunj metropololis-15, Abhaya Lal Kuswaha of Siswa, India and Sunil Kumar of Bihar, India, according to DSP at the District Police Office, Makwanpur Jayaswar Rimal. Bus driver Thapa died in course of treatment at the Old medical college hospital in Bharatpur. Likewise, 10 others including the truck driver and his assistant, and seven passengers on the bus were injured. They are undergoing treatment at the same medical college hospital, police said. The bus was carrying around 35 passengers. Further investigation into the incident is underway.
