This is so far the first-ever statue of former Prime Minister Koirala. In commemoration of 10th death anniversary of veteran democratic leader Koirala, NC Regional Committee erected the statue at its office at Mechinagar municipality-10, Dhulabari. NC Spokesperson and central member Biswo Prakash Sharma unveiled the statue. The half body size statue of the late Koirala was designed and mported from Jayapur of India at the cost of Rs 120,000, shared NC Jhapa Constituency-1 President Mani Uprety. He said that the statue of towering figure of Nepali politics Koirala was erected soas to enliven his contributions. Party cadres had raised fund required for the installation of the statue, said the party sources.
