KATHMANDU- The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation (MoCTCA) has released the schedule for regular and chartered international flights starting September 1.<\/p>\n
According to the schedule released by the Ministry, there will be a maximum of two regular international flights to Nepal in September.<\/p>\n
The Ministry\u2019s schedule allowing one flight to international airlines and another slot to either Nepal Airlines or Himalaya Airlines is in line with the cabinet\u2019s decision to bring a maximum of 500 passengers a day from abroad.<\/p>\n
The schedule shows that there will be a total of 58 regular international flights to Nepal in September. Out of the total, 29 flights will be operated by various international airlines while Nepal Airlines plans to make 17 flights from various countries and 12 flights by Himalaya Airlines.<\/p>\n
The Civil Aviation Ministry has come up with the schedule after the cabinet meeting last week decided to allow resumption of international flights from September 1 on conditions.<\/p>\n
The decision also paves the way for international airlines to operate their flights in Nepal after nearly a five-month ban imposed by the government as part of containment measures to spread the novel coronavirus.<\/p>\n
Earlier on March 2, the government had decided to suspend all international flights. A nation-wide lockdown was imposed to stop the spread of novel coronavirus after four days of the ban on international flights. While the government lifted the lock-down on July 20, prohibition on international flights was still in place.<\/p>\n
These international airlines will bring passengers from South Korea, China, UAE, Qatar, Turkey, Malaysia and Japan, among other countries.<\/p>\n
Separately, there will be 27 chartered international flights in September, according to the schedule forwarded to the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN). Most of these chartered flights are from those countries where Nepali workers have gone for employment.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
