{"id":12875,"date":"2022-03-10T16:25:15","date_gmt":"2022-03-10T10:40:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/english.kathmandupati.com\/?p=12875"},"modified":"2022-03-10T16:25:15","modified_gmt":"2022-03-10T10:40:15","slug":"police-arrest-two-on-charge-of-swindling-people","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/english.kathmandupati.com\/?p=12875","title":{"rendered":"Police arrest two on charge of swindling people"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>KATHMANDU &#8211;<\/strong> The Kathmandu police have arrested two persons accused of swindling people out of hundreds of rupees under the pretexts of providing them plots of land.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It has been found during the investigation that the arrestees-Hom Narayan Chaudhary of Bhadrapur in Jhapa district and Uddhav Bhandari of Budhanilkantha Municipality-4 in Kathmandu-introduced themselves as officials deployed by the Land Commission to collect data on landless squatters entitled to free land before deceiving people, said the police.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">They used to gather at Bhetghat Caf\u00e9 at Kathmandu Metropolitan City-16 and get their clients fill out a form and pay Rs 50,000 each for their service. They assured their clients that they would get four aanas of land each under the government&#8217;s plan to settle landless squatters, said Superintendent of Police Dinesh Raj Mainali.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The police also seized a laptop, a printer, application forms and a file recording names of various individuals and their photos from them, he said. A team from the Metropolitan Police Circle, Balaju acting on a tip off made the arrest.
