KATHMANDU: Pakistan\u2019s Ambassador to Nepal Majar Javed has held a courtesy meeting with National Assembly Speaker Ganesh Prashad Timilsina.<\/p>\n
Before Ambassador Javed\u2019s return to his country after the end of his working term, the two discussed bilateral relations, cooperation and support at the meeting.\u00a0 Chairman Timilsina congratulated Ambassador Javed on his successful tenure and wished him further success.<\/p>\n
During the meeting, Timilsina expressed that Nepal and Pakistan have maintained a close and intimate bonding with the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. He believed that the relations were cordial since the two countries are united in the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation, the United National and the Inter-Legislative Association.<\/p>\n
Chairman Timilsina also stressed the need for cooperation between the two countries in many areas such as trade, investment, tourism, culture and people to people contacts. \u201cThe coronavirus epidemic has created a new challenge in the world. It has also affected both of our countries. Mutual support and cooperation will help us fight this epidemic,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Additionally, Timilsina called on the member states of the regional organization SAARC to work together in cooperation to meet current challenges. \u201cSAARC should speed up it\u2019s activities to promote the interests of the people of South Asia. As a chair of SAARC,\u00a0 Nepal is taking initiative to help usher the activities of SAARC,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
He also thanked the government of Pakistan for providing scholarships to Nepali students who are pursuing their academics in medicine, engineering and other sectors in Pakistan.<\/p>\n
Stating that a high-level visit is needed to strengthen the ties between the two countries, Timilsina invited Pakistan Senate\u2019s Chairman Muhammed Sadiq Sanjarani to visit Nepal.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is in the interest of both countries to exchange parliamentary experiences and move forward with the necessary cooperation,\u201d he said, adding that \u201cin parliamentary cooperation, we should cooperate in bilateral and international forums.\u201d<\/p>\n
Stating that the relations between the two countries are very cordial, Ambassador Javed expressed happiness over his close cooperation with the government and the people during his stay in Nepal. He said that Pakistan is in favor of cooperation, stability, peace and prosperity between the two South Asian countries. He also expressed his opinion on how cooperation between the parliaments of both countries should be enhanced\u00a0 through parliamentary-friendly groups.<\/p>\n
