{"id":1829,"date":"2020-09-16T15:51:13","date_gmt":"2020-09-16T10:06:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/english.kathmandupati.com\/?p=1829"},"modified":"2020-09-16T15:51:13","modified_gmt":"2020-09-16T10:06:13","slug":"action-sought-against-educational-institutions-charging-high-fees-for-online-classes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/english.kathmandupati.com\/?p=1829","title":{"rendered":"Action sought against educational institutions charging high fees for online classes\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>KATHMANDU :<\/strong> Thirteen student organisations have demanded the bodies concerned to take action against educational institutions charging high fees in the name of online classes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A meeting of those organisations took the decision, urging the bodies concerned to take action against the private schools and campuses who had been charging high fees in the name of online classes, said RC Lamichhane of the All Nepal National Free Students Union.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The meeting also requested to run examinations of grade 12, regular and postponed exams of campuses and university by preparing criteria and plan to conduct examinations.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The student organisations have asked the government to create an environment conducive to resuming teaching learning activities in all schools, campuses and universities by adopting necessary health security measures as alternative learning systems have not been found effective and COVID-19 will not be under control immediately.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0\u00a0The meeting also decided to demand the government announce relief packages for stranded students, poor communities and make arrangements of salary to teachers and staff working in private schools.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The organisations\u00a0 also called for an investigation into irregularities and corruption said to take place in the course of purchasing medicine to control COVID-19 and the arrangement of quarantines.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It has been requested to appoint office bearers at the Pokhara University, the Nepal Sanskrit University and the Agriculture and Forestry University through open competition, said Lamichhane.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0\u00a0The meeting demanded that scholarship amounts be doubled and implemented after making scientific and practical standards.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Stating that students have been deprived of admission to government schools by the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training enrolling students based on GPA, the meeting demanded a provision to have 80 percent enrolment from government schools and 20 percent from private ones.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Expressing concerns about a 50 percent increment in transport fare following the removal of the lockdown, the students unions have demanded a scrap of the transport fare increment and an implementation of concession in transport fare for students, he said. The meeting also demanded that the government control inflation and black marketeering.
